Packaging Lines

Steel Sheet Bundles

At SAIZAR, we design packaging lines for steel sheet packages to automate the end of line process and achieve a more stable, safe and repeatable process. This category forms part of our packaging line solutions and we tailor it to suit depending the type of package, productivity and available floor space.

The aim is for your package to reach dispatch aligned, formed, strapped and prepared with the modules your process actually requires: transport, forming, strapping, insertion of protectors, weighing, labelling or wrapping of the product. Within this solutions, we work with steel sheet packages and with similar configurations when the project requires it.

How we set up your line at SAIZAR

We define each line based on the actual data of your facility: product, weight, minimum and maximum dimensions, material thickness, entrance alignment, productivity, type of strap, sealing method and auxiliary modules you wish to integrate. Furthermore, we adopt a turnkey approach, tailoring the design to the needs and circumstances of each client.

Bundle infeed and alignment

We can design the line so that the package arrives at the strapping station either centred maintaining the same centre position even if the width changes or aligned to one of its sides, depending on how the product emerges from your previous process. This decision directly influences the guidance, conveyance and design of the strapping station.

Fixed or lateral displacement strapping machine

The strapping station can be configured with a fixed strapping machine and the package moving to each strapping position, or with the strapping machine moving laterally while the package remains on hold. This approach forms part of the data we work with during the quotation phase to tailor the solution to your layout, the number of straps per package and their positions.

Common modules in a steel sheet package line

Conveying and transfer between stations

The line can incorporate transfer trolleys, conveyor, roller conveyors, chain conveyors and lifting systems, depending on the requirements of your production plant. This allows us to create a continuous flow between stations and adapt the system to different layouts and production rates.

Package forming

If you need to stabilise the bundle before strapping, we integrate the bundle forming system into the line. This combination helps to maintain the bundle’s geometry, reduce misalignment and improve the repeatability of the subsequent strapping, particularly when working with steel sheet bundles of varying dimensions or thicknesses.

Automatic strapping with steel or PET

The line can fit an automatic strapping machine for either steel or polyester strap, depending on the mechanical requirements and dispatch standards you require. In our automatic solutions, we typically work with steel or PET strap and with sealing methods such as notching, looping or TIG spots for steel strap, and friction-vibration for polyester strap.

Transversal and/or longitudinal strapping

Depending on the type of package to be strapped, the customer may require the package to be strapped transversely and/or longitudinally. We can design the strapping equipment to perform both types of strapping, using one or more automatic strapping machines. Depending on productivity and available space, we analyse the best possible solution for each customer.

Protectors, cardboard, corner protectors, labels, wooden blocks and other elements

If your parcel requires additional protection or specific preparation for logistics, we can integrate the insertion of labels, wooden blocks, corner protectors or cardboard directly into the strapping station. This ensures the package is better prepared for subsequent handling, storage or dispatch without the need for additional operations.

Turning, wrapping, weighing and labelling

To complete the line, we can also incorporate a turning system, automatic product wrapping, automatic labelling and even product weighing. These modules are particularly useful when you require greater traceability, better surface protection and greater integration with your logistics flow.

On-site benefits

A well-designed packaging line for steel sheet bundles helps you maintain greater control over the product and reduces reliance on manual tasks. By integrating transport, alignment, forming, strapping and packaging into a single solution, you achieve a cleaner and more stable process.

Typical benefits of this type of solution:

  • More package stability, thanks to alignment and shaping prior to strapping.
  • More configuration flexibility, with a fixed or mobile strapping machine and optional modules tailored to your process.
  • Better protection of the material, as cardboard, protective inserts or corner protectors can be added on the line itself, as well as wooden blocks at the bottom of the package and product wrapping.
  • More traceability, with integrated weighing and labelling.
  • True integration into the plant, with the conveyor system that best suits your production flow.

What we need to prepare a quote for you

To design the line accurately, we usually need the following information:

The product to be strapped and its minimum and maximum weight

Width, height and length:
minimum and maximum package dimensions

Thickness of the steel sheets

Whether the package arrives centred or aligned to one side

Productivity or target:
number of packages per hour

How the package is moved and discharged:
trolley, belt, conveyor, lift, crane, forklift or other system

Transport position:
of the material to the strapping machine: longitudinal or transverse

Type of strapping:
width/thickness and type of seal required

Number of straps:
Minimum and maximum per package

Strapping position:
transversal or longitudinal or both

Other modules:
transport, lifting, turning, wrapping, labelling, insertion of wooden blocks, insertion of corner protectors, weighing, forming, etc

Type of packaging

It would also be very helpful if you could send us a photo of the space available to install the equipment and a few photos of the package you wish to strap, as this speeds up the technical planning process and allows us to refine our proposal more effectively from the outset.

Technical Support and spare parts

In addition to design and integration, we provide technical support for maintenance and the supply of spare parts. This is particularly important when this type of equipment forms part of the end-of-line process, as any downtime directly affects the dispatch or storage of the product.

Frequently asked questions

What does a packaging line for steel sheet packs include?

It may include a transport system, a forming system, an automatic steel or PET strapping machine, a lifting system, a turning system, lamination, automatic labelling, the insertion of wooden blocks and a weighing scale, as well as numerous other pieces of equipment.

Yes, the line can be configured to work with steel or polyester strap, depending on the application.

For steel, we use notching, clamping or TIG spot welding; for polyester, friction-vibration.

No, we can provide a solution where the strapping machine remains steady and the package moves between positions, or a strapping machine that moves sideways while the package remains steady. We can also carry out both cross-strapping and longitudinal strapping.

Yes, when you need to better stabilise the geometry of the bundle before strapping and improve the repeatability of the process. That is why the forming system is one of the modules we can integrate into the line.

Yes, we can integrate the feeding of cardboard, corner protectors, labels or wooden blocks into the strapping station itself.

Yes, the weighing system and the automatic labelling system are two modules that we can integrate into the line.

Yes, the lamination system is one of the optional components that we can integrate into an automatic strapping and packaging line.
