Packaging lines

Tube bundles

A packaging line for tube bundles is a set of stations that automates the end of line: from the arrival of the material to the departure of the bundle formed, strapped  and ready for shipment.

We desgined it to ensure stable and repeatable strapping, reduce manual handling and fit in with your productivity and layout.

SAIZAR configurations for tube bundles

En SAIZAR trabajamos líneas específicas para paquetes de tubos / tuberías, con dos enfoques de evacuación según el flujo de tu planta: salida frontal o salida lateral.

Front outlet

Ideal when the line continues on the same direction (accumulation, labelling, dispatch) and you look for a straight flow. In these cases the package remains at the strapping station, while the strapping machine moves to each strapping position.

Side exit

Recommended when you need to divert the Package to a another carrier, to a storage area or to an alternative exit without interfering with the entrance. In these cases, the package moves to each strapping position, while the strapping machine remains in a fixed position during the strapping process.

Standard modules in a tube packaging line

Transport, centering and Package alignment

We define how the Package enters and how it is positioned before the strapping:

  • If the package arrives centered (keeping the same center even if the width changes).
  • Or if it arrives aligned to one side (referenced to a side).

And we configure the transport according to your plant: conveyor, rollers, chains, elevator, crane or others.

Package forming and compacting

If your process requires it, we incorporate a forming and/or compacting system to stabilize the package before the strapping. These units are common in automatic line projects and we size them according to product, cadence, and space.

Automatic transverse strapping

For tube bundles, we propose automatic strapping with various strategies:

  • Transversal strapping by positions: the strapping machines can be fixed and the Package can move to each position, or the strapping machine can move sideways while the Package is held in place.
  • Steel strap  and/or polyester strap (PET) in industrial widths of  16 / 19 / 25 / 32 mm, depending on the application.
  • The strapping head can incorporate vertical movements to perform strapping on the top of the package, and we work with round, square/rectangular and hexagonal packages.
  • If you also need to strap the package at the same time using several automatic strapping machines, we can design the equipment for this function.

Sealing according strap (Technical selection)

  • For steel: notching, stapling, or TIG welding (depending on requirements). The most common method for this type of strapping product is stapling, as it can be better adapted to the smallest flat part of the package.
  • For PET: friction–vibration.

Introduction of elements: cardboard, slats and wooden blocks

To protect the product and improve the presentation/shipping, we can incorporate the automatic insertion of:

  • Metal or plastic plates with or without labels,
  • Cardbord,
  • Wooden blocks.

In the case of the wooden blocks, the system can operate with automatic feeding through specifically adapted storage units (with capacities up to 100units, depending on requirements) and a pusher to place them in the desired position according the size of the product and its positioning in relation to the conveyor.

Conveyors & strapping tables

When the Package needs to be strapped in different possitions, we include conveyors and strapping tables, with controlled stops by variator and encoder, sized according to weight, measurements and available space.

Weighing and labeling for traceability

If you require traceability, we can include in the line:

  • Weighing system.
  • Labeling system.

In-plant benefits

Stable and reapeatable strapping:
with positioning strategies(mobile packaging or machine) and parameters adapted to your  product

Genuine flexibility:
for tubes/pipes with round, squared, rectangular and hexagonal packages

Less incidents:
due to a correctly dfined alignment (centred or lateral) from the start

Protection and improved dispatch:
automatically integrating cardboard, wooden plates or blocks

Traceability:
with weighing and labelling integrated into the line itself

Improve the productivity:
enabling the production of more tubes and the formation of more packages than with a manual application

Increase safety:
reducing manual handling by the operator

Checklist for sizing your pipe line

In order to propose the Right architecture, we usually need:

Product to be strapped, weight and maximum temperature of the package

Minimum/maximum dimensions of the package: width (A), height (B), length (C) and if it is applicable, diameter (D) and flat part (A1)

Alignment of arrival: centered or aligned to one side (which one)

Target productivity (package /hour)

How the material is moved/evacuated: trolley, rollers, chains, lift, crane or other means

Type of strapping (steel or PET), width/thickness and type of sealing required

Minimum/maximum number of straps per package

If  you want to add modules: forming, compacting, weighing, labeling, introduction of wooden blocks, etc

Technical service and spare parts

In addition to design and integration, we support you with maintenance to ensure availability: commissioning, process adjustments, maintenance and spare parts throughout the line’s life cycle.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a front outlet and a side outlet?

The front outlet maintains straight flow; the side outlet diverts the package to better fit your layout or alternative evacuation. The front outlet requires less space but reduces productivity, while the side outlet increases productivity and requires more space for integration.

We can design the fixed strapping machine with the package moving to the different strapping positions, or with lateral movement of the strapping machine while the package is stationary.

We can strap with steel and/or PET and in widths of 16/19/25/32 mm  depending on the application.

We work with round, square/rectangular and hexagonal packages, sizing the system to your format.

For steel: notching, clinching or TIG spot welding (depending on requirements), with clinching being the most common sealing system. For PET: friction-vibration.

Yes, if you need it, we can offer equipment capable of using two different types of strapping in different sizes, without the need to adapt two separate strapping stations for this purpose.

Yes. we can integrate plates, cardboard or wooden blocks according to your packaging standards.

Weight, temperature, minimum/maximum measurements, productivity, arrival alignment, transport/evacuation, type of strapping, sealing, number of straps and available space.

Yes, we can add both modules within the automatic line.

With your layout and product data, we define the flow (input, forming, strapping, output) and whether front or side output is best, mobile package or mobile strapping machine, and which modules provide the best return.
