Polyester strapping heads
A polyester (PET) strapping head is the assembly that performs the key cycle of the strapping process: feeding & collecting the strap, tensioning, cutting, and sealing, thus ensuring that the strapped product is stable.
In a production process, the strapping head is crucial for achieving repeatability in strapping, reducing incidents, streamlining the process, minimizing labor, and maintaining production with consistent performance.
The strap used is polyester, which makes it easier to handle and safer for the operator, preventing possible personal injury.
PET SAIZAR Strapping Head: design, sealing and strap control
At SAIZAR, we work with an exclusive strapping head model that allows products to be strapped with polyester strap from 16 mm to 32 mm wide. In order to work with different strap widths, a few parts of the strapping head need to be replaced.
We design, manufacture and test the strapping heads entirely at our facilities, which allows us to adapt the solution to the actual process and working conditions of each customer.
Our strapping heads are pneumatic. The tensioning force to be applied and even the movement speeds of the strap can be adjusted via the HMI depending on the type of product to be strapped.
The strapping heads can work with polyester strapping from any strapping supplier, provided that certain technical requirements of the strapping are met in order to guarantee the correct operation of the strapping head.
Sealed by Friction/vibration (adjustable)
In our PET heads, sealing is performed using the friction-vibration method, and both the sealing time and cooling time can be adjusted depending on the type and size of strapping used.
Intelligent system: position control and misalignment correction
Our strapping heads incorporate an intelligent strapping system: we know the position of the strap at all times and can automatically resolve any misalignments during the strapping process. In other words, if any anomalies occur during the strap feeding and collection process, the strapping head detects them and attempts to resolve the problem automatically without the need for operator intervention.

Integration into automatic strapping machines and packaging lines
We integrate the head into an automatic strapping machine or packaging line, together with a strap dispenser, strap accumulator, metal structure, head movement system, strap arch & guides, guards and equipment automation.
In Automatic Strapping Projects, it is common to work with widths such as 16/19/25/32 mm depending on the application and the different customer requirements.
Strap compatibility, support, and spare parts
To facilitate your operations, we can work with the strap of any supplier, provided that it meets the technical requirements necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the system.
If you need operational continuity, after-sales technical Support matter: in addition to during the project, we accompany you with technical service and spare part supply, to maintain system performance over time.
Frequently asked questions
What strip widths does your PET head support?
We work with PET strap of 16 mm to 32 mm of width. The usual sizes are of 16mm, 19mm, 25mm and 32mm.
What type of sealing do we use on PET?
Friction–vibration sealing.
Can the sealing time be adjusted?
Yes, we adjust the sealing time, as well as the cooling time, according to the Technical characteristics of the strap to be used.
What is the approximate sealing resistance?
Approximately 75-80% of the breaking load of the strap, depending on its quality.
What tension force can be achieved?
It depends on the width and thickness: 4500 / 5000 / 5500 / 6000 N.
What does it mean for the head to be “Intelligent”?
We control the position of the strap and we can automatically correct misalignments or abnormal situations during the strapping process.
What is the forward/reverse speed of the strap?
We work with 1,5 m/s.
What pneumatic and electrical requirements does it need?
6 bar working pressure and 24 V C.C electro valve.
Can I use PET strap from any supplier?
Yes, as long as it meets the technical requirements for proper operation.
What information do we need to recommend the right head for you?
Product (type and dimensions), width of strap, type of strapping required for the product, desired type of seal, cadence and integration conditions in your machine/line.
Can the polyester strap be used in hot applications?
When the temperature of the product to be strapped is below 70ºC, polyester strap can be used, but when the temperature of the product is higher, polyester strapping cannot be used; steel strapping must be used instead.
