Wire coil extraction systems
At SAIZAR, we integrate wire coil extractors into our strapping and packaging lines when, following the compaction and strapping processes, you need to remove the wire coil from the spool to continue the process automatically. This solution is part of our complementary packaging/strapping components.
The system is designed for applications where you work with wire coils on spools and need to separate the two components before proceeding to subsequent operations such as weighing, wrapping, or labelling.
How we design the extraction system
We design each reel unwinder to fit seamlessly into the actual production line flow, coordinating with the preceding and subsequent process stations. The coil-+ spool assembly is first flipped so that the spool eye is in a horizontal position, and from there, the unwinding is performed in a controlled manner
Securing the coil during extraction
Once the coil is positioned correctly, the removal system rises until it makes contact with the bottom of the coil, while an arm secures the top of the coil in place. This ensures the coil is secured from both the bottom and the top before the spool is removed from the coil.
Removing the coil and transferring it to the next statio
Once the coil is securely fastened, the carriage supporting the coil moves backward to remove it. Once the coil has been removed, the coil can be moved to the next station via the extraction system itself—using the carriage, a chain conveyor, or an elevator—depending on the line’s design.
Product protection and pressure control
The extraction system is powered by hydraulic cylinders and is constructed using various nylon components to prevent damage to the wire coil during operation. In addition, the pressure applied to the coil is adjusted via the control panel, allowing the process to be tailored to the product and its operating conditions.
Standard features of our coil extractors:
- Designed for applications involving wire coils wound onto reels.
- The coil is secured from the bottom and top during extraction.
- Driven by hydraulic cylinders with pressure adjustment via the control panel.
- Equipment manufactured from materials that do not damage the coil.
- Suitable for wire coils of all sizes.
Common Applications
The coil extractor is particularly well-suited for wire coil lines where, after compacting and strapping, you need to separate the coil from the spool to continue the packaging process. Once the coil has been removed, other operations such as weighing, wrapping, and labelling the product are performed.
In addition, SAIZAR offers various complementary equipment—such as conveyor systems, lifting systems, turning systems, weighing systems, and labelling systems—that allow the removal system to be integrated into a more comprehensive solution.
Benefits on site
Integrating the extraction system into the production line helps you manage this critical operation in a more controlled manner and in better alignment with the rest of the process. By automating the separation between the spool and the coil, you reduce intermediate handling steps and better prepare the product for the subsequent stations.
Common benefits of this solution:
- Coil extraction within the automatic production line flow.
- Better protection of the coil thanks to the extraction system and pressure control.
- Ability to integrate directly with weighing, laminating, or labelling.
- Adaptability to different types of wire coils and spools.

What we need to prepare a proposal for you
To properly design the coil eextraction system, we need to know the type of coil, its weight, its dimensions, and the type of spool you use. It is also important to know how the equipment will integrate with the preceding and subsequent stations, since after extraction, the coil may proceed to other processes such as transport, lifting, weighing, lamination, or labelling.
SAIZAR also takes into account productivity, available space, and the complementary equipment you wish to integrate into the project.
Standard information required to prepare a quote:
- Coil type, spool type, weight, and dimensions.
- Product input and output flow within the line.
- Expected productivity and available floor space.
- How the coil and spool are moved to the unloading position.
- Equipment you wish to integrate with the extraction system: conveying, lifting, weighing, laminating, or labelling.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a coil extractor used for?

It is used to remove the wire coil from the spool after compaction and strapping, allowing the product to proceed to the next station in the process.
What type of product is it used for?
It is used in applications where you work with wire coils wound onto spools.
What position should the spool be in for removal?
The assembly is turned over beforehand so that the spool eye is in a horizontal position before removal.
How is the spool secured during the operation?

The system secures the spool at the bottom and top before removing it.
How is the reel removed?

Once the spool is secured, the carriage supporting the reel moves backward to separate it from the spool.
How do you prevent damage to the coil during the process?

The system incorporates grooved nylon parts and allows pressure to be adjusted via a control panel to adapt the operation to the product.
Does the extraction system operate independently or as part of an integrated line?
It is designed as part of a strapping and packaging line, linked to preceding and subsequent stations.
To which stations can the roll proceed after extraction?
It can move to the next station via the extractor itself, via a conveyor, via a cart, or via a lift, to continue on to weighing, wrapping, or labelling.
